Founded in 1992, FS began as a small collective of students looking to give back to their community. Today, FS is the largest and most successful student-run fashion show in Scotland and the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
In addition to the annual show hosted in February, FS is also responsible for hosting our annual music festival, Starfields, and F4TE (Fashion 4 the Earth) week.

EXECUTIVE TEAM

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT
The Executive Director’s Assistant will act as a liaison between the Director and the Committee Heads. In addition, they will assist the Executive Director to oversee all external relations primarily with sponsors, press, and our charitable partner. Throughout the year, they will be responsible for attending important meetings, creating schedules and completing multiple/other miscellaneous tasks. Successful applications will require excellent communication skills, a flexible schedule, and a passion to learn about all elements of FS. The role will provide a great insight into the complex structure of the FS committee, allowing the assistant to play a vital structural role in organizing FS but will demand high commitment.

TREASURER
The treasurer’s role involves budgeting for each department, calculating funds that were spent in prior years and modifying budgets to the objective of saving money for the production and subsequently increasing the annual charitable donation. Banking and overall management of funds are key aspects of this role, which requires integrity, honesty and diligence. Furthermore, the treasurer works closely with multiple departments on expenditures and must be willing to sort payments with little advance notice. Experience in finance is advantageous for the role.

SPONSORSHIP
The Sponsorship team secures business contracts for our events through communication with local, national, and multi-national corporations. Our prominent sponsors in the past have included PwC, Chanel, Moët & Chandon, Bacardi, Absolut, and Swarovski. Excellent skills in communication, networking, and negotiation are key to the success of the team. In addition, the Sponsorship team requires you to be dedicated and determined. While it manages sponsorship deals with large corporations, the team also coordinates gift bags and the auction for our show in February. Sponsorship is crucial in raising the funds necessary to host our successful events.

CHARITY & FUNDRAISING
The Charity & Fundraising team lies at the heart of FS, and has the opportunity to help choose the charity that FS will support. Once the charitable organization is decided the Charity & Fundraising team has the responsibility of building a relationship with the charity, as well as representing FS and its endeavours to the chosen charity. Therefore communication, accessibility, and diligence are key characteristics of the team in their efforts to combine the strategies and mission of the chosen charity with those of FS. In addition, they also come up with new and effective ways to raise money, including social events, reaching out to potential donors as well as taking advantage of the growing network of FS. This team’s work in creating lasting relationships with supporters is key to making sure we have the resources we need to keep having an impact.

PUBLIC RELATIONS (PR): SOCIAL MEDIA/WEB
The Public Relations team will work on branding, press relations, and the expression of this year’s theme through our graphic and social media content. The PR team requires individuals with efficient communications skills, organization, and a keen interest and knowledge of the press, social media and its analytics. PR will be responsible for working with the Graphics team to curate the content of FS’s social media accounts. Our digital presence establishes a national platform from which FS promotes its brand and most importantly, its charitable organization. All social media channels must therefore be continually monitored and updated with essential information while communicating the expression of our creative direction for the year. PR will also be responsible for coordinating and liaising with all external press for Starfields and FS2026. A passion for social media management and press strategy is essential, though experience is not mandatory, it is preferred. Lastly, PR will be in charge of updating and maintaining the FS website. While not necessary, familiarity with website design is recommended.

ALUMNI
The Alumni Team plays a key role in keeping alumni connected to our organization. They keep track of all alumni and plan get-togethers, pairing up the wisdom of past members with the energy of current ones. This team also organizes alumni panels to share success stories during F4TE Week. By engaging our alumni, they help build a strong community that supports the organization’s growth and goals. Applicants for this role must have good communication skills and show a strong work ethic.
LOGISTICS TEAM

LOGISTICS DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT
The Logistics Director’s Assistant will act as a liaison between the Logistics Director and their subcommittees. In addition, they will assist the Logistics Director to oversee all external relations with venues, productions companies, and music acts. Throughout the year, they will be responsible for efficiently communicating and tracking tasks between the subcommittees, as well as managing spreadsheets and contracts. Successful applicants should possess excellent organisational skills, communication skills, a strong sense of urgency and be highly dedicated to the role. This position will provide a great insight into the complex and challenging execution of FS events, and allows the assistant to play a vital role throughout the year, while being Logistics Director’s first point of communication in every matter. Previous experience in similar roles would be helpful, but not essential.

SUSTAINABILITY & INCLUSION
The Sustainability and Inclusion team is responsible for executing one of FS’s core values. The team is responsible for organising F4TE (Fashion 4 the Earth) Week, which involves organising a series of small events to promote sustainability in all aspects of student life and fundraise for our chosen charity. It is also present to advise all teams in prioritising sustainable choices for the show, as well as helping the Fashion team to source sustainable designers. For FS2025, this team will also be tackling inclusion as another aspect of sustainability. This involves promoting diversity, and enhancing our community outreach within St Andrews. Successful applicants will have a clear passion for sustainability, be innovative and have a strong work ethic.

FRONT OF HOUSE
The Front of House team is responsible for curating guest’s experience at FS events in a variety of practical and creative ways. They coordinate the decoration of events, including furniture, displaying sponsorship, signage, wristbands and merch. The front of house team is crucial to the set up of our events, and is particularly hands-on in the days leading up to both Starfields and the show. Applicants should possess efficiency, resourcefulness, and a strong balance of a logistical and creative mind. Collaboration with other subcommittees, particularly the events team and sustainability is a key aspect of this role, giving them a great overview of the functioning and practicalities of FS.

EVENTS
The Events team is critical in its organisation of the production aspects of the events that FS hosts each year, and works very closely with the Logistics Director to execute these. The key responsibilities of this team include coordinating venue design and layout, production elements such as security, and catering. Events team also coordinate FS club nights throughout the year in order to maintain a presence in between Starfields and the Show. Organisational planning, logistics, detail-oriented, and having strong negotiating skills are essential to this role. Events team is paramount in procuring high-value contracts from leading contractors and events production companies from across the UK. The team works closely with individual contractors for both Starfields and FS, as well as with the university to secure licensing and agreements for our events. This position allows the team to build and maintain great relationships with external companies, and gain an overview of the production side.

MUSIC
The primary role of the music team is to curate a strong musical identity for FS. This has to be translated through the artists procured for Starfields and the sets created for the 2500+ guests. Music also works closely with the creative team to produce a show mix that embodies this year’s vision and a wider FS identity. This team is also responsible for booking acts for the after party section of the show, and this requires effective negotiating and communication skills. Music production skills and technical knowledge are necessary to the role, as well as the ability to cut and mix tracks and perform live at both Starfields and the show. Experience with management and booking agencies is greatly valued. Please bring a five minute mix for the show to the interview.
CREATIVE TEAM

CREATIVE DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT
The Creative Director’s Assistant will act as the liaison between the Creative Director, their subcommittees, and the models. They will assist the Creative Director to ensure the FS2023 creative vision is consistently executed across all aspects. Throughout the year, they will be responsible for efficiently communicating between the subcommittees and organizing photoshoots and model rehearsals. Successful applicants will require creativity, excellent organizational skills, and be an efficient multitasker. The role will allow the assistant to play a vital role in combining multiple creative aspects into a cohesive creative vision. Previous experience in a similar role would be helpful, but not necessary.

FASHION
The Fashion team concretizes the artistic vision of FS. Its primary responsibilities include procuring designers for the show; planning and executing photoshoots with photographers, models, and hair and make-up teams; and arranging the way in which the collections will be presented in the show. The Fashion team works closely with the Graphic team, Creative director, Choreo team, and stage designers in preparation for the show. A keen eye for visuals, strict organization, and an imaginative outlook are crucial. In the weeks leading up to the show, Fashion handles the logistics of all designer collections, and fittings, and manages backstage to ensure the show's running order is coordinated with each collection. Broad knowledge of the creative and fashion industries is helpful, and organizational, communication and networking skills are essential.

CHOREOGRAPHY
Choreography represents one of the most interactive teams on our committee, responsible for the movement within the show by means of coordinated walks and poses, as well as for the casting of models. The team leads a group of 20 models in weekly practices to ensure absolute precision on the part of the models and directs rehearsals in the busy weeks before the show. Confidence, as well as effective leadership and organizational skills, are critical to the team's pursuits. Experience in performance art is valued. Additionally, experience teaching choreography is preferred.

PHOTOGRAPHY
The committee photographers are responsible for working with the creative department to bring the theme to life in a variety of photoshoots. Strong applicants for the role will have experience in photography, and a thorough understanding of Lightroom and Photoshop. Moreover, the individuals that are right for the role are both able to take direction and to direct on their own. The work completed for FS2023 will have an immense global viewing, providing a great outlet for new photographers seeking exposure and opportunity to grow their skills. VIDEOGRAPHY
The committee videographers are responsible for creating our marketing, promotional and creative videos. While Videography will have tight deadlines to adhere to, it is more of a long-term job in that the team should be working year-round on creating graphics that can be easily applied to any promotional videos or event productions. The Videography team will work closely with Graphic Design, PR, Front of House, Sponsorship, Web, and the Executive Director in order to ensure aesthetic continuity. A high-quality camera capable of recording video is essential, as well as experience in editing software (ie. Final Cut Pro, After Effects, etc). Applicants must attach a link to their portfolio of previous work later in the application.

PUBLIC RELATIONS (PR): GRAPHIC DESIGN
The Graphic Design team produces all marketing and promotional material for FS, primarily through the creation of banners, cover photos, photographs, and videos. Graphic design and photography are crucial skills within this team, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple ongoing projects at once. InDesign and Photoshop skills are therefore essential. Design represents one of the most important aspects of FS in maintaining the quality of our brand while promoting what we do to our followers and guests. The Graphic Design team will work very closely with the PR: Social Media/Web and the Creative Director in order to adhere to the overall aesthetic. The Graphic Design team will also work closely with the Charity and Sponsorship teams. A Design portfolio of previous work will be required in the application and at the interview.

BEAUTY
The beauty team plays a pivotal role in bringing creative visions to life. As a Makeup Artist, you will be asked to prove your skills creating looks for fashion editorials and the catwalk. Candidates must demonstrate strong creativity, adaptability, and communication skills to thrive in this dynamic position. While experience in fashion makeup is preferred, enthusiasm and a passion for creativity are essential.
